Jan 19th. The Waite Collective
- Author: Paul Ryan
- 2023-2024
Mal Waite began singing on the folk scene in the mid-1980s, and one of her very early solo gigs was at one of our earlier venues. She and her daughters, Rebecca and Katrina, always sang together, often while washing up after family meals. From singing informally they moved on to joining her on stage occasionally at clubs or festivals, until it grew into a fully-fledged family band around the turn of the Millennium. They are known for their intricate harmonies, often unaccompanied, though they sometimes feature Mal’s guitar playing, their sensitive choice of songs, and there on stage banter will have you joining along with the choruses.
