Jeff Warner comes from an American folk dynasty that I could not do justice to here. Suffice to say that he is a consummate performer who has a fine singing voice and can accompany himself on banjo, concertina and guitar. Come along for a wonderful American traditional evening. He loves to involve the audience so plenty of opportunities to join in. He may even bring along his dancing doll.
A much-respected song-writer, Jez'ssongs are loved and sung throughout the folk world. It is great to have the man as well as the songs. Come and be bowled over by the skill and ease that he conveys stories of the life’s of ordinary people and trades of his beloved north-east. A longtime favourite of the club so please come along early.
Harry Li is a folk singer-songwriter who draws on folk music traditions around the British Isles in his playing and writing. As well as performing traditional folk songs, he crafts original songs which have been inspired by folk music past and present. He is particularly influenced by the music and singing of Nic Jones, Jim Moray and Anne Briggs. Harry was a recipient of the Turnstone guitar Artist's Guitar, an initiative which gives musicians the chance to use a boutique acoustic guitar for their performing, writing and recording.
Cohen Braithwaite – Kilcoyne. It will be great to see him back at the club again. Put a squeeze box or concertina in his hands and it seems to become part of him. Lively jigs, slow airs, tunes from England, Scotland and Ireland and beyond move from his head to his hands effortlessly, which belies the skill and dedication he puts in to it. With a good strong voice and an eclectic repertoire of songs you will be spoilt for choice. Get here early he has a huge following.
