We welcome back the duo Mat Green and Andy Turner from Oxford. They are stalwarts of various groups including Magpie Lane. Mat plays fiddle with Andy on anglo-concertina and vocals. They play a vast repertoire of English tunes and songs but can be also guaranteed to spring a few surprises and maybe a dance! A night to look forward to.
The “voice” is back at the Diamond she has to be heard to be believed. A delight to book for festivals or folk clubs since she has an unrivalled repertoire in any style you care to mention. Will there be choruses, you can bet your life there will be.
Barrie and Ingrid Temple hail from the North East Their warm easy going style hides a deep commitment for their area and the pride they feel for the working people and their trades. Singing in harmony, songs of the sea and of the land, they make you feel they are singing just for you. Look out for Barrie’s own songs in the sets that fit easily into the genre and, be ready to join in.
We are re-opening with Scolds Bridle. Sue Bousfield and Liz Walmisley are no strangers to the club and it is a great way to start the 60th season. Sue plays English concertina and Liz guitar and bouzouki. Expect great harmony singing from them both, their songs range from the poignant to the hilarious. They are also known for their collaborations with stage productions based on the life of the Fylde area and its association with the sea. Chorus singers and listeners are very welcome.
As the third generation of the famous folk singing Campbell family, it is our pleasure to have David back as a guest. He sings an eclectic mix of songs spanning the years, accompanying some of his songs on ukulele and banjo. So, whatever is your favourite from a broadside ballad to early American blues, I am sure he will have one you like. Bring your voice or just come and listen.
