Ruth and Sadie Price are no strangers to the club. They are two very fine traditional singers from Yorkshire who tonight are accompanied by Lisa Oliver on the harp, plenty of opportunity to join in the choruses, a night not to be missed.
When Bob sings a song about his beloved North East he imbues it with a magic that makes it his alone. Expect songs of love, joy, work and humour, sometimes all four in one song, all accompanied by a wonderful guitar style that can both drive or embellish a number. This man has served his time at his craft and it shows. Tickets are £11 from the club. Email or phone Paul Ryan, but hurry, they are going very quickly.
We welcome back Bob and Gill Berry. No strangers to regulars of the Chippenham festival or the Devizes folk club. Their repertoire covers a variety of songs, both Traditional and Contemporary. They have two lovely rich singing voices, with many of their numbers accompanied by Bob on guitar, and some glorious harmony singing as well. We always enjoy their friendly but polished performance. Choruses are a certainty.
This Group have a well-earned reputation for tight and inventive harmony singing. Their arrangements of both traditional and contemporary songs are a joy to listen to. The interplay between them on stage only comes from a long friendship and affectation for each other. They love an appreciative audience and I can guarantee they will have you singing along from the start.
Steve Turner is known as a pioneer of highly sophisticated English concertina song accompaniments and has one of the best voices around. He is a multi- instrumentalist, accomplished on both the mandolin and banjo. Steve is equally at home on a large festival stage or an intimate folk club like ours and with a great repertoire of ballads it is a night to look forward to. Curious Times his latest CD is a real gem, get your hands on a copy.
