Quartz are a four piece group who for years have performed the length and breadth of this country at festivals and folk clubs entertaining audiences and gaining many friends. For the last few years they have ceased to gig regularly, but we have managed to coax them out for a night at the Diamond. Expect wonderful harmonies and a broad selection of material. They will make you work for their fee.
We are very happy to see Dorset’s own back at the club. Actor, producer, story teller and a wonderful duet concertina player. He sings songs of the West Country and much farther afield. Many of his self penned songs are sung in clubs nationwide with many thinking they are traditional. A night not to be missed.
Graeme Meek and Barry Goodman are Life and Times and are a multitalented duo, both of them being instrumentalists, singers and songwriters. You may recall them bringing their show, “Where The Working Boats Went”, to the club a few years ago. They have a vast repertoire to choose from so I know we are in for a treat. Get your chorus voice ready.
Pilgrims' Way are Edwin Beasant: melodeon, guitar, bass, harmonica, Lucy Wright: Jew’s harp, fiddle, vocals, Jon Loomes: guitar, cittern, concertina, hurdy gurdy, viola, mandolin, backing vocals and Tom Kitching: fiddle, mandolin. They share a deep love for the tradition, but they are not afraid to stamp their own personalities on what they do. Their strapline is ”refreshingly different, reassuringly traditional ‘, which sums them up nicely.
As part of our ongoing mission to bring new acts to the club we start the new season with a great combination - an all female trio who are three generations of the same family. Val, Jane and Rosie sing in close harmony both contemporary and traditional songs intricately arranged for guitar fiddle, flute or viola. Based in the Staffordshire area the band has been playing at folk clubs and festivals for many years.
