This is Hector’s second visit to the club and it is a joy to see and hear him in the Midlands again. I know he is no stranger to many of you who are regulars at the Alcester Festival. He has a fine ballad singing voice and a warm personality. Listen out for songs from the Robert Burns collection but he is also adept singing a contemporary number. You will get plenty of opportunity to join in. His CD “days o’ grace” has had some wonderful reviews.
Their first Cd was entitled “Under the Influence” Which is aptly titled for as you listen you will soon be under the spell of this duo who are tried and trusted performers. Two of the finest voices around coupled with Damien’s excellent accompaniments. Old songs and new songs with plenty opportunity to participate in the choruses so come early for a seat.
The Foxglove Trio perform mostly traditional songs from around the British Isles as well as gathering material from sessions, They are Cathy Mason on guitar, cello and vocals. Ffion Mair is an award winning singer who sings in Welsh and English and plays whistle and bodhran. Patrick Dean plays melodeon, cello and concertina and also sings. First visit to the club but long awaited.
Blast from the Past are Chris Green (voice, keyboards and fretted strings) and Sophie Matthews (voice and woodwinds). Between them, they play over 30 instruments and their repertoire ranges from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. They excel at presenting the sounds of the past in an accessible, engaging and contemporary fashion.
Mick is probably one of the finest traditional ballad singers around who has also written a string of folk musicals. Paul his partner in this duo has an enviable reputation as a guitarist par excellence as well as a fine singer. Together Mick and Paul provide entertainment of the very highest quality. They are both very busy at present with the revival of Mick’s musical play “A Day’s Work” set at the time of the Great War.
