It is time to welcome back one of the most requested guests to the club. Brian Peters is a real powerhouse of traditional music and song. He is hailed as one of the finest ballad singers around, while his playing of melodeon, concertina and guitar will have your feet tapping and your hands clapping for more. Brian works frequently in the USA and can often be seen touring this country with some fine American folk artists.
Notts Alliance are no strangers to the Diamond. Expect tight harmonies from this trio. Their eclectic repertoire never fails to amaze me stretching as it does from the traditional to the present day. It is all served up with a gentle humour that is directed at themselves. Come early as they are very popular.
John Cocking and Will Noble have been singing together for over twenty five years and they take delight in songs from their beloved Yorkshire, many of which have been handed down to them through the generations. It has been said that they are two honest singers singing honest songs and, after hearing them, I am sure you will agree. There will be plenty of opportunity to join in the choruses. Also look out for John’s monologues as they often reduce the room to fits of laughter.
This is the first time we have had them as a duo and we are really looking forward to it. Richard is a virtuoso box player and vocalist and hails originally from Brum. What more do you need to know? Jess plays fiddle and sings. They are at home playing and singing English traditional material but are more than adept at writing and performing their own compositions. Come early you have been warned.
It is by way of an early Christmas treat that we have this talented duo from Oxford. Expect skilful harmony singing from their well crafted repertoire that is firmly rooted in the tradition. They have a knack of finding different versions of songs that we know and love. Sue and Lorraine are firm favourites with our audience and the joy they have in performing shines through. I am looking forward to hearing a few seasonal items in their sets.
