Dave Webber and Anni Fentiman
Dave Webber and Anni Fentiman

We welcome this talented duo back to the club where they have made many friends down the years. You will hear some of the finest songs in the tradition, sung both as harmonies and solos. Each of them is more than capable of carrying a night single handed, but then you would miss the gentle humour mainly directed at each other and the harmonies that flow from it. Dave with his song writer’s hat on is well respected by the folk community, so I know we will benefit from some of those as well. Bring your vocal chords.

Green Matthews are paying their second visit and you may remember them being called Blast from the Past, they are Chris Green and Sophie Matthews, Chris, by on his own admission plays most things fretted and sings while Sophie plays English border bagpipes as well as a variety of early woodwind instruments and sings. What to expect is not easy to say, some fantastic early tunes and songs well sung and played but you might also hear a music hall standard, a poignant First World War song or even a Christmas ditty. You will certainly get a chance to join in.

Taffy and Paul
Taffy and Paul

A different sort of night for us but one I am sure you will enjoy as we bring together this talented duo. Taffy Thomas MBE is an international story teller and was the first storytelling laureate. His skill is to focus your mind into believing that he is telling the story to you alone as you are swept along with the tale. Paul Anthony Vinton Knox is a leading exponent of the Northumbrian pipes and is well rooted in the traditions and music of Northumberland. He plays tunes from his area as well as more contemporary pieces and European pieces. He is equally at home on the concert stage as well as a folk club.
