With a love of his Teesside birthplace and the people who dwell and work there, Richard has salted his repertoire of songs of the land and sea sung with commitment. Much of his self-penned material is now sung up and down this country often passed off as traditional,but sounding so much better sung by man himself. He also has a passion for traditional songs and ballads and this is all held together by his unique guitar accompaniments. Be ready to sing.

Judy Cook is over from the U.S.A.on one of her popular tours and we are glad to have her back at the Diamond as she has become a firm favourite here. She sings us songs that we know in versions we don’t, all sung in her unique style. Her repertoire is amazing and continues to grow. She sings songs of the land and the seas, the trades and foibles of everyday life.Bring your voice.

Ian Bruce makes one of his infrequent visits from his home in Scotland and we are very pleased to see him back in Brum. Not a performer to be buttonholed, he is equally at home singing a Robbie Burns ballad as he is performing one of his own well known songs. With a lovely stage presence and a wonderful rich singing voice he accompanies himself superbly on guitar. Come early for a seat.

We welcome back Martin and Shan Graebe to the club. They are held in high esteem for their knowledge and research into folk music in general, and in Martins case the work on the Sabine Baring Gould collection in particular. Tonight though it is the performance side of folk song that you will hear, as both are fine harmony singers and soloists. At ease on stage they will have no problem coaxing you into joining in the choruses.
