Pilgrims Way
What better way to start the new season than with Pilgrims Way, who have morphed into a four piece group since their last visit? Edwin Beasant, Melodeons, Guitar and Bass. Jude Rees, Oboe, Vocals, Woodwind ,TomKitching, Fiddle Mandolins, Jon Loomes, Cittern , Hurdy Gurdy, Concertina. With a line up like that you can expect anything and everything. The answer to your question is I don’t know where they are going to put all the instruments either?
Don’t forget to come early as our new start time will be 8pm.
Robin Laing is making a very rare visit to the Midlands from his beloved Scotland. He has an enviable reputation for his knowledge of whisky both in song and story but there is a lot more to him than that. He can make a song his own whether it is from the Scots tradition or a more contemporary source. You feel he is singing a song just for you and is at home in a club setting. We are lucky to get him so be early.
Jack has escaped from (Moore, Ross and Rutter ) to pay his first visit to us. He accompanies his songs on guitar, bouzouki, and concertina and his love of traditional song shines throughout his performance. His easy going presence on stage puts the audience at ease and have no fear your chorus singing will be required. Come early he is deservedly very popular. You have been warned.
Hi Folks it gives us great pleasure to have Captain Swing appear at the Diamond. A lot of you know that they were our favourite ceilidh band in the days of the Diamond barn dances. But tonight all you have to do is sit back a listen to some fabulous tunes coupled with a few songs thrown for in for good measure.
The band are: Andy Casserley (melodeon; anglo-concertina; treble and tenor recorders; clarinet), Liz Griffiths (soprano, treble, descant and tenor recorders; saxophone; glockenspiel), John Davis (bass guitar; sopranino recorder), Ian Pittaway (guitar; mandolin)
Graeme's rich baritone room filling voice will have you joining in from the word go. He has a vast repertoire containing traditional love songs, mining songs, shanties, gospel songs, drinking and Music Hall songs and some more recently written contemporary songs – many with good enjoyable refrains. He is in great demand throughout Europe so it is good to have him back at the Diamond.
