Our 61st season started off well enough, with guests Discovery and Roy Clinging, but the sudden loss of Eddie Fitzpatrick, the Landlord of the Lamp Tavern who passed away on 17th October, meant the premises were closed, unfortunately as it turned out, permanently. So, as we have done many times before, we started the never-ending task of searching for a new home. In total we visited around 30 different premises. Some were totally unsuitable, some ridiculously priced, and some where we could not have the room every Friday. However, one of the venues we visited was a previous home of the club from 1994 to 1997, the Red Lion in the Jewellery Quarter. This was available for 5 weeks, which gave us some much-needed breathing space, during this time we found another pub in the Jewellery Quarter, the Jewellers Arms it had an upstairs room that was available for continuous use.

So, on 29th November 2024, we had our opening night with guests Peter and Barbara Snape. The Jewellers Arms has proved to be a popular venue with plenty of free parking, is both close to the Metro and local railway stations, and with a dozen different real ales on sale every week. What more could a folk club want?
